An Action Guide to Finding Your Personal Brand’s Niche

An Action Guide to Finding Your Personal Brand’s Niche

What is your niche? I would love to hear about it in the comments below.

When I first made the decision to create and grow my personal brand, I read Dorie Clark’s book Stand Out: How to Find Your Breakthrough Idea and Build a Following Around It. Dorie’s writing has had a massive impact on me, helping me to identify my unique spin on the broad topic of sales. Below, I’m going to share with you some ideas I learned from Dorie and how I applied them to find my personal brand’s niche and attract the right clients for my business.

If you’ve made the decision to start a personal brand and put your ideas out there, you’re probably not focusing on a narrow-enough niche.

How I Found My Niche

Here’s a link to an Action Guide that can help you to flesh out your ideas.

When I started out, I was focusing on the broad umbrella of sales, because that’s what I’d been doing for the previous fifteen to twenty years. But to find my niche, I had to do some digging. I had to look at my history:

  • When I was in my late teens and early twenties, I was introduced to Tony Robbins’s work. I fell in love with the idea of personal growth. I embraced the concepts of personal development, motivation, and vision creation.
  • In my university days, I started my first company, with two of my friends, Steve and Ron. This brings me to another thing I realized I was passionate about—entrepreneurship. I’ve been an entrepreneur and business owner ever since.
  • I also love helping other people. I’ve noticed that I get a lot of energy from sharing my knowledge with others and learning from them.

I care about specific aspects under the broad umbrella of sales. I have passion for personal development and motivation, entrepreneurship, and serving others. That’s my unique spin. I help entrepreneurs to become confident in human-to-human selling by not only giving them the skills but also firing up their desire to make their businesses successful.

Our Personal Brands Evolve

To keep the juices flowing in your personal brand, let your brand evolve with you. In 2015, when I launched my book, It’s Time to Sell: Cultivating the Sales Mind-set, my brand was focused solely on selling. My articles, podcasts, and videos focused on my unique niche in sales.

However, as my personal brand began to take root, prospective clients began to come me asking, “Hey, Chris. Can you help me grow my personal brand?” Because I’d shared my own story, prospects were coming to me! This has made sales easier. Now I help entrepreneurs to become confident in human-to-human selling and personal branding by not only giving them the skills but also firing up their desire to go out and make their businesses successful.

What Are You Passionate About?

Take a look at your own history. What are you passionate about? What is your broad umbrella? How can you tie your passions to that umbrella?

Here’s a link to an Action Guide that can help you to flesh out your ideas.

Next week, I’ll share some tips on how to grow a following.
