How Entrepreneurs Can Use Instagram and IG Stories
This week, I talked to Samantha Phelan about Instagram and how you can use it for your brand.
I’m actually fairly new to Instagram, but I’m loving my experience on it, sharing my multidimensional personality. I’m finding that it’s a phenomenal platform for getting to know people. I love the Stories feature, and I contribute Stories quite regularly.
Below is a short snippet from the episode. Click here to watch the full episode and learn more about how to grow your following, get quality followers, promote your brand, and a lot more.
How to Get Started on Instagram
Identify the top 10 players in your field and what has made them successful. Which people and brands do you look up to? Look at their Instagram feeds. What attracts you to them? What’s compelling about them? Is it their personality? Their aesthetic? The captions they use on images?
Develop your own strategy based on those success factors, but make them your own.
Set up the right sequences. Once you have a strategy, create the path you’d like your audience to take. That path should draw them into a sale or a conversion. Do you want people to buy your new course, product, or app? Post a photo of the moment when you were inspired to create your product. Tell the story behind it. Leading up to your launch, share some behind-the-scenes footage.
Follow the 80/20 rule on "asks". Posting a graphic with a huge message that says “BUY THIS NOW” won’t work on Instagram. Sure, you should include those calls to action, but the majority of your content must be compelling. It must evoke curiosity and whatever other emotions you want your audience to feel. Put out your calls to action every now and again, but make them subtle rather than the majority of your content.
In the video below, Samantha also shares how you can leverage Instagram Stories to promote your brand without that spam feel.
